March isn’t just about St. Patrick’s Day and the first day of spring—there’s a whole world of bizarre, wacky, and downright strange holidays you’ve probably never heard of. If you love the quirky and unusual, you’re in for a treat. Here are some of the weirdest holidays you didn’t know existed in March!

March 3 – What If Cats and Dogs Had Opposable Thumbs Day

Wet cat peeking over a bathtub edge with damp fur and a slightly grumpy expression. Green tiled background.

Yes, this is a real holiday, and it brings up an unsettling yet amusing thought—what if our pets could open doors, grab snacks, or even text us passive-aggressive messages? This day encourages you to imagine (and maybe fear) a world where our furry companions gain a whole new level of independence.

March 10 – International Day of Awesomeness

Created on the belief that everyone has the potential to be awesome, this holiday encourages people to embrace their talents, accomplish something amazing, or just be their most incredible selves. The motto? “No permission needed to be awesome.”

March 14 – Pi Day (and Potato Chip Day!)

Pi digits densely fill the image in black text on a white background, starting with 3.141592653589793. No objects or people are present.

Pi Day (3.14) is well-known among math lovers, but did you know it shares the spotlight with National Potato Chip Day? Celebrate by solving equations while eating an unreasonable amount of chips—because why not?

March 15 – Everything You Think Is Wrong Day

Feeling confident about your opinions? Think again! This holiday suggests that on March 15, you should question everything you believe to be true. It’s a humorous reminder that we’re all capable of being wrong and that there’s always more to learn.

March 20 – Extraterrestrial Abductions Day

A cute creature with large orange eyes, scales, and antennae sits against a teal background. It has a curious expression, highlighted in red.

If you’ve ever worried about little green men showing up at your doorstep, this is the day to stay extra alert! Whether you take it seriously or just enjoy a good sci-fi movie marathon, March 20th is all about celebrating the possibility of alien encounters.

March 26 – Make Up Your Own Holiday Day

Why settle for existing weird holidays when you can create your own? On this day, you have the freedom to establish a holiday for literally anything you want—whether it’s National Nap Day, Don’t Answer Emails Day, or Give Your Plants a Pep Talk Day. The possibilities are endless!
