a murder of crows for the edge of reason blog post

Short and sweet for today's installment of this Gothic Tale! Next week will wrap up this short story. I am still debating on what to post next. I am still considering building a new novel with you. I have a supernatural/horror, and a straight up horror novel idea in mind. I may even mix it up by adding some Slaughterhouse installments (though those are not all PG-13-ish when it comes to violence. Those may be reserved for a different tier for patrons. Decisions...decisions...I have one more week to decide!

For now, Part 6 of my Gothic Tale.

Is it madness, this fear that won't subside,

Or are the crows truly her fate's cruel guide?

In her mind's eye, their feathers turn to knives,

And she's trapped in a nightmare from which she strives...

Time seemed to stretch into eternity as Lenore lay paralyzed by dread, each tick of the clock a thunderous beat in the otherwise silent room. The crows' haunting image infiltrated her charged imagination, their feathers morphing into sharp, menacing blades in the theater of her mind. Her pulse raced as if to outrun the creeping sensation that she was not merely a spectator but the centerpiece of some macabre ritual.

Outside, the night was a viscous black tide, undulating against the thin veil of her windowpanes. The direful chorus of caws had tapered into a disquieting lull, giving rise to the discord of Lenore’s internal tumult. Was this relentless unease the product of a weary mind, or had she indeed become the quarry of a more tangible terror? The crows' obsidian gaze seemed to bore through the walls, insinuating a fate decreed by wings dark as pitch.

With every shadow that flickered, Lenore’s heart clenched tighter—the sharpness of the phantom blades felt as though poised at her very throat. Unseen forces pulled at the edges of her sanity, a torment that left her grappling for the slender threads of reason. Her eyes, wide in the suffocating dark, searched for solace; for in this nocturne of fear, she found herself ensnared, desperate to awaken from a dream that bound her in feathers and fear.
