Creating My Newest Paint Pour

Paint pours are something I do to alleviate stress and still feel as though I am accomplishing something creatively. I started doing them a few years ago and then stopped when my publishing schedule became too much. I still work a full time job and though it is something I love doing, there are days when I am mentally exhausted. This sucks the creativity out of me. Paint pours were an outlet where there is little thinking involved.
Paint pouring is an easy exercise once you get a handle on it. There is a science to it and in order to get better, it is good to know the properties of paint. I will get more into that as the months go on but for this post, I wanted to introduce my newest painting.
I began doing pours on a much smaller scale (4x4 inches) and initially wanted to make coasters. The wooden squares I used were not heavy enough to make effective coasters so I create and sell them as mini art. They are much better this way as you can enjoy the full painting and not the bits surrounding your mug.
For this pour, I decided to try a larger canvas. Even though I saw it was 11x14 inches, I misjudged the amount of paint I would need for the base coat. What I had would have been effective for an 8x10inch. Not having that "pool" of paint on the base made it more difficult to move the paint. I was also in a rush and had forgotten to elevate my canvas! {sigh}
Thankfully I was able to salvage it and the end result is much better than expected! Once I am able to nab a better photo of it for presentation, it will be added to my shop.
Enjoy!
