I've been a bit busy and am behind on my movie reviews, and, well, everything! Please bear with me as I go through the back log of what I've watched and rewatched. :-) Here's today's movie review on The Equalizer!

Equalizer, starring Denzel Washington, delivers a gripping and intense thriller that pays homage to its 1985 TV predecessor while standing strong on its own. Washington portrays Robert McCall, a man with a mysterious past who seeks solace in a quiet life. However, when he encounters Teri, brilliantly portrayed by Chloë Grace Moretz, and witnesses her suffering at the hands of brutal Russian mobsters, McCall's resolve to stay out of trouble shatters.

The film's strength lies in Washington's commanding performance as McCall, who effortlessly transitions from a mild-mannered retiree to a relentless force of justice. His character's inner turmoil and unwavering determination are portrayed with depth and conviction, drawing viewers into his quest for redemption and retribution.

Director Antoine Fuqua masterfully crafts intense action sequences that keep audiences on the edge of their seats. From hand-to-hand combat to tactical showdowns, each scene is executed with precision and adrenaline-pumping energy. The pacing is relentless, mirroring McCall's relentless pursuit of justice.

Chloë Grace Moretz's portrayal of Teri adds emotional depth to the narrative, serving as both a catalyst for McCall's return to action and a symbol of the innocent victims caught in the crossfire of criminal activity. Their dynamic provides a compelling emotional anchor amidst the chaos and violence.

While Equalizer faces the challenge of living up to the legacy of its predecessor, it succeeds admirably, offering a fresh take on the vigilante genre. The film honors the spirit of the original series while carving out its own identity, thanks to Washington's powerhouse performance and Fuqua's deft direction.

Overall, Equalizer is a thrilling and satisfying cinematic experience that packs a punch from start to finish. Fans of the original series will appreciate the nods to its legacy, while newcomers will be drawn in by the gripping story and intense action. Equalizer proves that even in a crowded genre, there's always room for a standout film fueled by powerhouse performances and adrenaline-fueled action.
